TWO CLEANSER REVIEWS

OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL & CLINIQUE TAKE THE DAY OFF CLEANSING OIL

Cleansers are quite possibly my favourite skincare item and I nearly always have three on the go at anyone time. Some people might say that a serum is the most important aspect of a skincare routine, but I’m of the opinion that there is absolutely no point in spending a fortune on serum/moisturiser etc if you’ve not properly cleansed your skin beforehand. Two cleansers I’ve been using for a while, but haven’t yet reviewed on my blog, are the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel and the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil.

OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel £28.00 // HERE

I first discovered OSKIA about 2 years ago when I tried their Renaissance Mask. I absolutely loved the mask so when I heard that they were bringing out a cleanser of the same kin, I hot footed it down to Space.NK and picked one up. The first thing you’ll notice when using the OSKIA cleansing gel is the rose scent. If you love the smell of rose then this will be right up your street. The packaging is lovely and one pump dispenses the perfect amount to thoroughly cleanse your face and neck. When warmed between your palms it melts down into an oil, but one that gives you enough ‘grip’ to thoroughly massage your face. Flanneled off it leaves my combination skin comfortable, with no signs of tightness.

A couple of standout ingredients include Lactobacillus Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Ferment Extract or, in laymans terms, a pumpkin enzyme that helps to shift dead skin cells. When I lived in Manchester I used to love having a Pumpkin Peel at Skin Health Spa as a few days after the treatment, my skin would look so bright and glowy so it’s always an ingredient I keep an eye out for in skincare. The other ingredient that stand out is Dimethyl Sulfone or MSM. MSM is what the whole OSKIA skincare range is based on due to its ability to boost circulation and collagen production. I’m yet to do some thorough research on this but from what I’ve gathered so far, OSKIA is a brand that can back up every single ingredient in their formulations with proven scientific evidence. It’s definitely one to watch.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil £22 // HERE

I absolutely adore the Clinique TTDO balm so when I spotted in a magazine that they did an oil version of it I just had to give it a go. Like the balm you apply it to dry skin, massage it in then remove with a flannel. It emulsifies into a milk when it comes into contact with water, but please PLEASE make sure you remove it with a flannel (your skin will thank you!)

This cleanser does a really thorough job of removing every last trace of makeup, dirt and oil and doesn’t leave any blurriness in my eyes if I use it to remove really heavy eye make up after an evening out. The other great thing about the TTDO Cleansing Oil is that there is absolutely no fragrance or essential oils added which makes it ideal for those of you with sensitive skin.

In terms of a preference I personally I prefer the Clinique TTDO Cleansing Oil to the Cleansing Balm. I feel it does exactly the same job but prefer it purely down to the fact that it’s more convenient to use and has a hygienic pump.
