April Favourites | L’Occitane, Origins, Essie, Avene, Andrea Fullerton.

Tuesday, 1 May 2012

I can’t quite believe it’s the end of April already! This year seems to be flying by at the moment but time flies when you’re having fun right? So anyway, I’m really going to try and get into the routine of posting and filming monthly favourites as I think they are such a fab way to talk about the products I’ve loved using recently so without further ado here are my April favourites...

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil 250ml (£16.00|here)

I adore the smell of almonds so when I saw quite a few reviews from different bloggers talking about this shower oil from L’Occitane I had to a have a gander to see what all the fuss was about. Basically it’s a super silky oil that when in contact with water slightly foams up so you can use it as an all over body wash. I can’t tell you how divine this smells and if you love almonds then this is absolutely sure to be a hit with you. Also, as it’s an oil, you can use it for shaving. It makes a gorgeous shaving oil and my legs are a lot softer when I use this as opposed to regular shaving foam. The only snag for this product is the price. I did umm and ahh for about a month before taking the plunge and buying it because it’s a lot of money to spend on what is essentially a shower wash. Once I read it can double up as a shaving oil though I was sold. Is it worth the money? Well I probably wouldn’t buy it for myself again but if someone else wanted to buy me it as a present I’d be over the moon. It’s nice to have a little bit of luxury added in to your daily routine in my opinion! I’m going to do a full review of this because a few people on Twitter have asked me what it’s like so watch out for that.

Essie ‘Vanity Fairest’ Nail Varnish 15ml (£8.99|here)

Ever since the royal wedding last year I’ve been lusting after a similar colour that Kate wore on her nails. Since then I found out that she actually wore ‘allure’ by Essie so I went to have a look at the launch of Essie in store at the Superdrug in the Trafford Centre. I picked up what I thought was ‘allure’ (it was in the allure \section) but when I got home I realised it was ‘Vanity Fairest’. I’m not too disappointed because vanity fairest is a gorgeous pale colour that makes the nails look super smart and polished. It’s gone straight to the top of my nail varnish favourites for this month.

Dr Andrew Weil For Origins Mega-Bright Skin Tone Correct Serum 30ml (£46.00|here)

I received this a couple of months ago but I’ve only been using it for the last month. I was worried it might flare my skin up but it’s had the complete opposite effect. I’ve been absolutely blown away with this product and despite it’s ridiculous price tag I’ll without a doubt be repurchasing when it runs out. I did a full length review of this here if you want to find out about it in more detail. In summary though, if you want to lessen the appearance of acne scars, brighten up your skin tone and look generally radiant then you need a bottle of this super serum!

Avene Skin Recovery Cream Calming Formula 40ml (£12.50|here)

About a good month or so ago I had laser skin therapy which you can read about here if you are interested. Now because my skin was very sensitive after having the treatment it meant I couldn’t use any AHA/BHAs on my skin for a good two weeks. I asked the practitioner what she recommended and she mentioned the Avene range. I’ve always used their thermal spray but never their actual skin care range so I picked up their gentle cleanser and the skin recovery cream. I absolutely love it. It’s now my night time moisturiser and I can’t even begin to tell you what a difference it has made to my skin. The gentle, calming formulas has had a big improvement on my blemishes and used in conjunction with the origins mega bright my skin has never looked so good.

Andrea Fullerton Nail Boutique Trio ‘Petrol In Water’ 8.8ml (£7.99|here)

This is a bit of a cheat for an April favourite as I actually received it as a present for Christmas. Recently, however, I’ve rekindled my love for it. For those of you that haven’t seen/heard about petrol in water it’s a beautiful trio nail varnish from Andrea Fullerton. It’s dual ended so at one end you have a gorgeous shimmery brown that looks gorgeous on its own but when you apply the other end (a shimmery green/yellow/purple/blue) it turns in to the most beautiful monochromatic petrol blue colour ever. I’ve done a blog post this here with swatches if you want to have a nosey.

So those are my April favourites! Quite a few pricey items in there this month for some reason! I hope you enjoyed it and make sure you watch out for the video version of this post! What are your must have products for April? I love finding out about new products so please let me know by leaving a comment below!
