DIY: Exfoliating Manuka Honey & Green Clay Face Mask (Oily Skin)

Thursday, 13 October 2011

I figured I've not done a DIY post for a while but seeing as I've been going on about natural ingredients recently in a couple of posts I thought I better write a DIY face mask. This one is for oily skin and one I make quite often!

This wonderfully dual action mask soaks up excess oil and sebum whilst also acting as a gentle exfoliator. It can be used for those with combination skin, simply apply the mask on your t-zone only.

YOU WILL NEED:

1 tsp of poppy seeds

20ml witch hazel

1 tsp manuka honey

3 tablespoon fine green clay

5 drops of tea tree oil

½ teaspoon vegetable glycerine (optional)

METHOD:

Mix your poppy seeds and green clay together in a bowl.

Add your witch hazel and gently stir.

Add your manuka honey and mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Pour your tea tree oil in drop by drop and stir again.

If you make more mask than you need simply add ½ teaspoon of vegetable glycerine to your mix and it should keep for around a month.

HOW TO USE:

Apply the mask to thoroughly cleansed skin and leave to set for 10-15 minutes. Once the mask feels ‘tight’ it is ready to be removed. To remove splash your face with cool water (still with mask on) and gently rub your mask off in small circular motions to exfoliate your skin. You should be left with silky smooth skin!

So there you have it! Feel free to adapt the recipe to suit your own skin needs! Enjoy the rest of your day!
