DIY: Cocoa & Vanilla Bath Melts - YUM!

Saturday, 13 August 2011

They look like chocolates don't they?! But please don't eat them like my boyfriends dad unfortunately did! I left some orange and chocolate ones I made in Newcastle out in the kitchen and he ate one, we laughed a lot but seriously, don't eat them!

So I bet you are wondering how do I make these little beauties? Well, here's how...

YOU WILL NEED:

25g of raw cocoa butter
1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
A couple of drops of Vanilla extract (not essence!)
Pretty little soap moulds (I use chocolate moulds)

HOW TO:

Melt your cocoa butter in a bain-marie (a bowl over a pan of hot water) until it's liquid. You can roughly chop the cocoa butter first if you want it to melt quicker.

Add your cocoa powder now if you want the effect of it falling to the bottom (as above) if you want it combined let the cocoa butter liquid cool down a bit then add it.

Drop in your vanilla essence and give everything a good mix.

Pour into your soap moulds. It's best to use silicone as they pop out easier. Put them in the fridge for about an hour to harden up.

Once solid, pop them out of their moulds and leave to stand in the fridge on their own again for about 30-45 minutes then store them in a pretty jar. They should keep for around 6 months but I'm sure you will use them all before that time!

TO USE:

Simply pop a couple in the bath and give the water a stir. Be careful as they can make the bath slippy!

So there you have it, lovely little bath melts perfect for friends or to spoil yourself at bath time! And again, although they smell absolutely divine, please don't let anyone eat them!

Enjoy your weekend! Rebecca x
