DIY: Green Tea, Apple Cider Vinegar and Tea Tree Oil

Friday, 15 July 2011

I thought I’d write another post on one of the DIY toners I’ve been trying out recently. I’ve read a lot of about combining the powerful anti-oxidant powers of green tea with the anti-bacterial properties of apple cider vinegar making this toner perfect for those with an oily complexion. Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing about a DIY toner for dry skin as that seems to be a skin type I’ve not written much about.

YOU WILL NEED:

-Pure Green Tea

-Apple Cider Vinegar

-Pure Tea Tree Oil

-A container

-Hot Water

METHOD:

Brew your green tea. Try using a smaller amount of water than you usually would so that the mixture is more concentrated. Let the tea infuse into the water for 3-4 minutes.

In the meantime pour apple cider vinegar into your container so it’s a third full.

Let your green tea infusion cool down then pour into your apple cider vinegar.

Add a couple of drops of tea tree oil (again, the anti-bacterial properties of tea tree oil will help aid those with oily/acne prone skin).

Put your lid on the container and shake it all up.

TO USE:

Thoroughly cleanse your face first; might I suggest African black soap, you can purchase it from here.

Apply the toner to a cotton wool pad/ball and rub in circular motions all over your face and neck.

It’s important to rinse your face once you have applied your toner as the acidity of the apple cider can cause irritation if left on the skin for too long.

Gently pat your face dry and follow with a natural moisturiser, I like to use a drop of almond or jojoba oil.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If any of you have any of your natural beauty recipes you’d like to share please leave a comment below or alternatively post a link to your blog!
